With the aim of providing a setting where you can experience a lot of cultural event and a venue where you go in search for books, this library had been constructed. The COBE architectural practice designed this contemporary project called simply The Library in 2011 located in Copenhagen, Denmark to extend the existing culture house with a new concert hall and library after winning the first place in a competition began in 2009.
There are four golden boxes displaced like a stack of books and they comprise the project, beginning with the children’s library on the ground floor, a youth library and another adult library after which the top floor is occupied by the concert hall. Staircases connect the different levels and the designers implemented multipurpose areas between the main volumes so that the project serves as a village hall, community center and urban gathering area.
